Distilleries & breweries in Europe & the US are changing their focus to the production of hand sanitizer. BrewDog is one of a number of Scottish breweries that has started producing & donating hand sanitizer, while French drinks company Pernod Ricard is donating pure alcohol.

Beauty & Fashion Brands

UK beauty brand Pai Skincare has switched the production of some of its skincare products to create hand sanitiser.

LVMH has turned its perfumes & cosmetics business into a manufacturer of hand sanitiser to be distributed to the French healthcare system & has promised to donate 40 million face masks.

Estée Lauder donated 2million dollars to Doctors Without Borders to combat coronavirus in countries that lack resources & reopened a factory in New York to start producing hydroalcoholic gel.

Beauty manufacturer Coty is using its production facilities to make hydroalcoholic gel for medical & emergency services.

L’Oréal increased sand sanitiser production through several of its beauty brands. La Roche-Posay brand will provide hospitals, pharmacies & nursing homes across Europe with hydroalcoholic gel, while Garnier brand will dispense millions of units of hydroalcoholic gel to its European clients in the food distribution sector.

Unilever has launched initiatives around the world manufacturing & distributing millions of bars of free soap to those most in need. Some of Italy’s major fashion brands, such as Prada & Mayhoola, are playing their part to help the serious outbreak in their country with donations of money & funding hospitals. Many, like Gucci, are turning their workshops to the production of face masks & protective clothing.

Other European fashion brands like Spanish Mango & Inditex & French Sandro are also donating masks.

Manufacturers & Engineers

In the UK the manufacturing & engineering industry is coming together to produce ventilators. Some of the countries industry leaders such as Rolls Royce, Vauxhall & Dyson have turned their expertise to developing & producing & assembling ventilator components. Smaller organisations with 3D printing capabilities are printing component & all extra personal protective equipment is being donated to the NHS.

Biopharmaceutical Companies

From developing testing kits, sanitisers & disinfectants, to researching treatments & vaccines biopharmaceutical companies are some of the leading companies in the fight against the coronavirus outbreak.

There are currently more than 60 known COVID-19 treatments & preventions in development, either by repurposing existing drugs or engineering new antibody treatments or vaccines.
