zinc oxide sunscreens
  • Snow can reflect the sun’s UV rays by up to 80%, this combined with a higher altitude can make winter sun every bit as damaging on the slopes as it is on the beach

  • Exposure to UV radiation increases 4 to 5% with every 1000 feet above sea level, so the higher the altitude – the stronger the UV radiation

  • Up to 80% of the sun’s harmful UV rays can penetrate cloud cover so even on cloudy days, you are at risk of skin damage

  • Snow & strong winds can wear away any sunscreen protection used & reduce its effectiveness, so it is important to actively reapply at least every 2 hours.

The sun never stops, and neither should your defence against long term sun damage. When outside during the winter, drink lots of water, eat antioxidant rich foods, and cover exposed areas with clothing, hats or a good zinc oxide sunscreen. Your skin will thank you all year long, for many years to come.
